Treadle Lathe Explained

Treadle Lathe Explained Tube. Duration : 2.48 Mins.

This is a foot-powered lathe that I duplicated from some pictures of Don Webber's original. Mine is a lot rougher since it's almost entirely made from salvaged material, bikes from the garbage etc. Later on I found a quiet but powerful electric motor and drove the flywheel with it using a round belt I made out of rope from twisted bicycle inner tubes. Also the gouge I'm using is an Oland tool that uses concrete nails as hardened steel cutting tips. This is an absurdly cost effective tool. You can build an Oland tool with my instructable: www.instructables.com
